Last week was a big one at Katapult, having been named as one of the country’s top 50 creative companies! This incredible accolade came from an index compiled by Creative England, an organisation instrumental in investing in England’s future by nurturing and developing our country’s creative and digital leaders.
About the Creative England 50
The Creative England 50, now in its second year, highlights individuals and businesses from the creative industries who are “inventive, innovative and brave” with an ability to turn creative ideas into commercial success.
On the judging panel were leading industry figures including Karen Blackett, Chairwoman of MediaCom UK, Steve Hatch, Facebook's Regional Director for the UK & Ireland, and Rebecca Burn-Callander, Enterprise Editor at The Telegraph.
Businesses featured spanned across the games, TV, film, creative tech and digital media industries. You can read the full report here.
Our 'Catalyst' for success
One of the key factors to our success has been evolving our proposition around results-driven creativity: Marketing technology has changed everything in recent years, effective measurement of marketing is now accessible to just about everyone and we’ve embraced it.
This shift has really sharpened our focus on making an impact for our clients; everything we do should either help to build an audience, create meaningful engagement or improve conversion. We’ll question everything until we are confident that what we are doing will deliver a social, cultural or commercial benefit. Read our 'catalyst' moment here.
We're committed to driving the creative industries forward...
We're hugely proud to be part of the creative sector, which not only contributes £76.9 billion to the UK economy, but provides employment to more than 1.7 million people.
Since Katapult's formation, we have been committed to being involved with & supporting numerous organisations that help Derby to be a better place to live through its creative and cultural offer. From developing Derby's Creative Industries Network over a ten year period (through it's many different guises), through to working closely with QUAD from their inception and continuing to support the pioneering work that they do both locally & globally.
For the creative sector locally, we see business partnerships with organisations such as the University of Derby & QUAD as vital. In addition, inward investment will be needed to help build the sector further and ensure that we are attracting & retaining creative talent to the area.
Talent of course is an essential requirement to our own growth plans: Since Katapult started in 2001, we've grown from four to 23 people and have more than doubled in size within the last three years.
We're aiming for further growth in 2016, soon to be recruiting for both creative and digital marketing roles. (Keep an eye on our careers page if you're interested in joining our dynamic team)
